As the premier medical education institution in the state, the University of Florida College of Medicine has been on the leading edge of medical curriculum, post-graduate education and physician assistant training since its inception in 1956.

In its goal to lead the nation in intellectual achievement in medical science and practice, the College of Medicine developed and implemented a modern medical education curriculum. New teaching methods, course requirements and multidisciplinary team learning present a comprehensive approach to patient care and pave the way for improved societal outcomes.

In 2015, the College of Medicine opened the George T. Harrell, M.D., Education Building, a facility designed to support the new curriculum as well as rapid advances in technology and medical science.
